progress report

So its been a week or something since I wrote the last journal entry. Since then, my week has been pretty much full of the Thanksgiving break. I usually don't even celebrate Thanksgiving, especially not in the sense of American's having dinner with Native Americans celebration or whatever. I actually kind of think the holiday is just another one of those ridiculous holidays...the only reason I'm for it is because I get off and also cause it brings families together. But other than that, its a sham.
This years thanksgiving dinner was pretty cool though. Rashad, as usual, was cooking the turkey and having his family over. I decided to help him just because... but it turned out to be really cool. I got all into marinating the turkey, making lasgna, stuffing, and all the other food that we were so very blessed with (Alhumdullilah). It started with me just boiling water...but the next thing i knew, i was helping rashad and saira make mashed potatoes, and everything else. It was a lot of fun actually. I actually am thinking about making this same dinner for my sister and bro in law when they come down in December.
Anyways, after helping prepare the food, the dinner with Rashads family was pretty nice too. We didn't do too much after dinner because most of us were pretty stuffed and Rashad actually fell asleep, followed by Zain and Marcus. It's always entertaining to be involved with anything Ahmed related. From Saif's wedding to just watching a movie with the Ahmed family, I always have a good time. I'd rather not say why...you just have to know them. They're great people mashAllah....its just sometimes....i guess this example would help explain it. So we were all in the living room and Marcus is just showcasing his talented piano playing skills as usual and the Ahmeds are always entertained by that. Then, all of a sudden, they started requesting christmas songs. They all sang along like some big happy white family. It was Thanksgiving and they were all singing silent night, jingle bells, etc...hehe. it was kind of surreal. I had a great time though just laughing at that. I requested a sami yusuf nasheed, but they didn't know it...or they just didn't want to sing it.

anyways, later that night I went to hanif's to wait around til Black Friday sales. That was pretty cool because we stood in line at best buy at 4am. Then hanif got his computer and i ran around looking for the stuff faiz wanted. I got some of it. Anyways, we were at best buy for a good hour or so and finally when we checked out and stuff, we had a whole cart full of stuff. Hanif went to go get his car and I stood in front of best buy with the cart. Meanwhile, the local news was there and actually interviewed me live. i think i came off sounding pretty dumb because, it was 6am and i was really tired. None the less, it was pretty exciting. Noone saw it though...absolutely noone. I guess I'm not surprised...it was 6am, whoever was up was shopping...the rest were sleeping peacefully at home.

Anyways, progress report:
I guess its been ok. well...not really. i think im failing. But I guess, since returning to school, I've been better about things. InshAllah, I'll keep improving myself. Allah (swt) knows I'm trying and really have the intention to better myself. Really.
